Writing the Oral Tradition
Scholars of oral traditions hold differing views regarding the viability of transcribing the oral to the written. This paper demonstrates that Leslie Marmon Silko is transcribing, and thus preserving, oral culture of the Native American in her book Storyteller. Palestinian women workers who, like other Arab female workers, are exploited in terms of sex (men receive twice what women earn) and class (only the poorest enter wage labor) are also exploited along political lines.
