  • The relationship between disability and quality of life among older adults

Open Access•Jing Zhu, Zhiqiang Feng et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Background The acceleration of population aging, especially in China, has led to a rapid growth in the number of older adults living with disabilities, posing significant challenges to public health and quality of life (QoL). From the perspective of the biopsychosocial framework, the adverse impact of disability (a biological and functional factor) on QoL has been well documented. However, the underlying mechanisms linking disability to QoL withi…

  • Understanding factors influencing the adoption of moxibustion techniques by the population

Open Access•Chengxin Fan, Zina Fan et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background Traditional Chinese medicine plays a unique role and has proven efficacy in preventing and treating common and chronic diseases. Moxibustion, as a type of traditional Chinese medicine healthcare therapy, has a broad mass, social, and cultural foundation in China. This study analyzes the pathways and influencing factors of residents' acceptance of moxibustion. Methods Data were collected from 808 residents in 18 cities or districts usin…

  • The impact of Sanming’s healthcare reform on medical resource misallocation

Open Access•Lin Guo, Chengxin Fan et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Background: The global misallocation of healthcare resources has emerged as a critical impediment to public health. In China, healthcare resources are predominantly concentrated in major cities and high-tier hospitals, while primary care facilities suffer from inadequate capacity, contributing to issues such as "difficult and expensive access to healthcare." Despite numerous healthcare reforms, significant disparities in resource distribution per…

  • Impact of Peer Referral on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Adherence and Persistence Among Men Who Have Sex with Men

Open Access•Chengxin Fan, Zhuoheng Yin et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS and Behavior•2025

  • HIV Services Uptake Among People Living with HIV in Jiangsu Province, China

Open Access•Wei Ai, Lingen Shi et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS and Behavior•2024

  • Cross-sectional study of factors affecting the receipt of mental health education in older migrants in China

    Open Access•Wanchen Wang, Wan-Chen Wang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2023

The older migrant population does not receive sufficient mental health education. Mental health interventions should be tailored to the characteristics of older migrants to increase their mental health literacy and meet their psychological needs

  • Understanding the Heavy Metal Pollution Pattern in Sediments of a Typical Small- and Medium-Sized Reservoir in China

Open Access•Qibei Bao, Cheng Liu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Heavy metal pollution in sediments is a common environmental issue in small- and medium-sized reservoirs not only in China but also worldwide; however, few interpretations of the pollution pattern exist. Based on the analyses of accumulation characteristics, ecological risks, and source apportionments of eight heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Pb, Ni, and Zn) in sediments, we derived a paradigm to describe the pollution pattern of heavy metals in…

  • Distribution, sources and ecological risk assessment of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu, China

Open Access•Hongbin Yin, Yongnian Gao et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2011

The distribution, sources and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediments from Lake Taihu were studied. Results showed that the measured heavy metals had varied spatial distribution patterns, indicating that they had complex origins and controlling factors. Pearson's correlation analysis revealed that the total phosphorus and the loss on ignition were positively correlated with the measured metals except Cd. Principal component analysis …
