Psychometric evaluation of the Adult Eating Behavior Questionnaire and its relationship with body mass index among Chinese university students
Background Eating behavior critically impacts human health and the development of obesity. This study aimed to validate the Adult Eating Behavior Questionnaire (AEBQ) among Chinese university students and explore the relationship between appetitive traits and body mass index (BMI). Methods A total of 546 students from Southeast University completed the Chinese version of the AEBQ and self-reported anthropometric data. Confirmatory factor analysis…
Hemoglobin as a mediator between air pollution and growth outcomes in children under 60 months
Postnatal exposure to air pollution (PM 2.5 , PM 10 , SO 2 , CO) increases the risk of stunting, particularly during the critical developmental window of 6-23 months of age. This effect is partially mediated by hemoglobin levels, and YYB can moderate this relationship. These findings highlight the importance of prolonged nutritional interventions in mitigating the adverse effects of air pollution on child growth and development, with significant …
Eating behavior during pregnancy mediates the association between depression and diet quality--a new strategy for intervention in pregnancy
Background: Depression can result in changes in eating behavior and decrease the quality of eating. It has been shown that maternal depression during pregnancy can result in malnutrition, which can have adverse effects on the pregnancy and the offspring. There is currently no clear association between depression and diet. Methods: Five hundred and forty-nine pregnant women recruited from Danyang Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Jiangsu Provi…
Sex differences and dietary patterns in the association of air pollutants and hypertension
Our findings suggested that sex differences existed in the association between dietary patterns, air pollutants and hypertension. Furthermore, we found that adherence to traditional southern pattern may mitigate the risk of long-term PM 2.5 exposure-induced hypertension in males
The Association of Dietary Pattern with the Risk of Prehypertension and Hypertension in Jiangsu Province
Hypertension is the most common chronic disease and the primary risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Prehypertension is closely related to a variety of cardiovascular disease risk factors during the development of hypertension. The objective of this study was to explore the relationship between dietary patterns and hypertension in Jiangsu Province. Specifically, we included the participants from 2007 and then followed up in 2014 in the Jiangs…
Pea Protein-Derived Peptides Inhibit Hepatic Glucose Production via the Gluconeogenic Signaling in the AML-12 Cells
Pea protein is considered to be a high quality dietary protein source, but also it is an ideal raw material for the production of bioactive peptides. Although the hypoglycemic effect of pea protein hydrolysate (PPH) has been previously reported, the underlying mechanisms, in particular its effect on the hepatic gluconeogenesis, remain to be elucidated. In the present study, we found that PPH suppressed glucose production in mouse liver cell-line …
The relationship between dietary patterns and overweight and obesity among adult in Jiangsu Province of China
The traditional dietary pattern only have positive association with overweight and obesity in men in Jiangsu Province, China
Hemoglobin Status and Externalizing Behavioral Problems in Children
These results indicate that there is an inverse association between hemoglobin levels and later behavioral problems. Findings of this study suggest that regular monitoring of children's hemoglobin levels and appropriate intervention may help with early identification of behavioral problems
