  • Day-to-day pattern of work and leisure time physical behaviours

Open Access•Charlotte Lund Rasmussen, Dorothea Dumuid et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

While low SES adults' leisure time was mostly sedentary, their work time was predominantly standing. Work physical behaviours differently influenced day-to-day leisure time behaviours. Thus, public health initiatives aiming to change leisure time behaviours among low SES adults should consider the influence of work physical behaviours

  • Nation-Wide Dissemination of a Digital Checklist to Improve Work Environment in the Eldercare Sector in Denmark

Open Access•Pernille Kold Munch, Marie Birk Jørgensen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2020

In this study, we evaluated the dissemination of a digital checklist for improving implementation of work environment initiatives in the Danish eldercare sector. We evaluated the impact of the checklist using the RE-AIM framework. Initiated in 2016, researchers and relevant stakeholders were responsible for disseminating the checklist to all workplaces in the eldercare sector in Denmark through a national campaign. The checklist guided the user t…

  • Objectively Measured Sitting and Standing in Workers

Open Access•David Hallman, Niklas Krause et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Excessive sitting and standing are proposed risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), possibly due to autonomic imbalance. This study examines the association of objectively measured sitting and standing with nocturnal autonomic cardiac modulation. The cross-sectional study examined 490 blue-collar workers in three Danish occupational sectors. Sitting and standing during work and leisure were assessed during 1−5 days using accelerometers. …

  • Technically measured compositional physical work demands and prospective register-based sickness absence (Podesa)

Open Access•Sofie Dencker-Larsen, Charlotte Lund Rasmussen et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2019

PODESA provides a unique possibility of unravelling which combinations of physical work demands are associated with prospective sickness absence. PODESA employs technically measured information on physical work demands (taking into account the compositionality of physical work demand data) and prospective sickness absence data. The findings from PODESA can be used to develop strengthened preventive interventions for sickness absence. Results are …

  • Does Physically Demanding Work Hinder a Physically Active Lifestyle in Low Socioeconomic Workers? A Compositional Data Analysis Based on Accelerometer Data

Open Access•Charlotte Lund Rasmussen, Javier Palarea‐Albaladejo et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018

Leisure time physical activity (LTPA) is strongly associated with socioeconomic position (SEP). Few studies have investigated if demanding occupational physical activity (OPA) could impede a physically active lifestyle in low SEP groups. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between OPA and LTPA among low SEP men and women. We used cross-sectional data from 895 low SEP workers who wore accelerometers for 1−5 consecutive workday…

  • Are temporal patterns of sitting associated with obesity among blue-collar workers? A cross sectional study using accelerometers

Open Access•Nidhi Gupta, David Hallman et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

For the whole day as well as for work, brief bouts and long bouts of sitting showed opposite associations with obesity even after adjusting for MVPA and total sitting time, while sitting during leisure did not show these associations. Thus, the temporal distribution of sitting seems to influence the relationship between sitting and obesity

  • Does workplace health promotion in Denmark reach relevant target groups?

Open Access•Marie Birk Jørgensen, Ebbe Villadsen et al.•ARTICLE•Health Promotion International•2015

The aim of the current study was to investigate whether Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) is available for workers with poor health status (overweight, musculoskeletal disorders, sickness absence and poor self-rated health) or health behaviour (smoking, poor diet and sedentarism) and whether they participate in WHP. In total, 9835 workers responded to questions regarding availability to 6 different types of WHP through The Danish Work Environment …

  • Health promotion in primary and secondary schools in Denmark

    Open Access•Kirsten Nabe‐Nielsen, Kirsten Nabe-Nielsen et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2015

In a Danish context, schools' participation in health promotion was rather stable from 2006 to 2010 and unrelated to the measured characteristics of the schools and their students
