  • A developmental trajectory analysis of adolescents' interpersonal relationships

Open Access•Lihong Yin, Yiqiu Hu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of School Psychology•2026

  • Short-term effects of ambient air pollution on musculoskeletal diseases in Yangzhou during 2019–2022

Open Access•Hu Zhang, Bing Wang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Our findings indicated that short-term exposure to ambient air pollutants may elevate the risk of MDs, with particular attention warranted to the health impacts of SO 2 and O 3 emissions in urban areas. In addition, the heavy metals in PM 2.5 exerted negative relationship with the risks of MDs, which provided the new sights of the protective role of heavy metals against bone disease

  • TMT-Based Quantitative Proteomics Reveals Cochlear Protein Profile Alterations in Mice with Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

Open Access•Long Miao, Juan Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a global occupational disease affecting health. To date, genetic polymorphism studies on NIHL have been performed extensively. However, the proteomic profiles in the cochleae of mice suffering noise damage remain unclear. The goal of this current study was to perform a comprehensive investigation on characterizing protein expression changes in the cochlea based on a mouse model of NIHL using tandem mass tag (T…

  • Short-term effect of fine particulate matter and ozone on non-accidental mortality and respiratory mortality in Lishui district, China

Open Access•Yuqi Chen, Zhigang Jiao et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

PM 2.5 and O 3 could significantly increase the risk of non-accidental and respiratory mortality in the middle-aged and elderly people in Lishui District of Nanjing. Exposed to air pollutants, men were more susceptible to O 3 damage, and women were more susceptible to PM 2.5 damage. Reduction of PM 2.5 and O 3 concentration in the air may have the potential to avoid considerable loss of lives

  • PTP4A3, A Novel Target Gene of HIF-1alpha, Participates in Benzene-Induced Cell Proliferation Inhibition and Apoptosis through PI3K/AKT Pathway

Open Access•Yunqiu Pu, Fengxia Sun et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

Benzene, a commonly used chemical, has been confirmed to specifically affect the hematopoietic system as well as overall human health. PTP4A3 is overexpressed in leukemia cells and is related to cell proliferation. We previously found that HIF-1alpha was involved in benzene toxicity and PTP4A3 may be the target gene of HIF-1alpha via ChIP-seq. The aim of this study is to confirm the relationship between HIF-1alpha and PTP4A3 in benzene toxicity, …

  • Global Identification of HIF-1α Target Genes in Benzene Poisoning Mouse Bone Marrow Cells

Open Access•Zhaodi Man, Xing Meng et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018

Benzene is a hematopoietic toxicant, and hematopoietic cells in bone marrow (BM) are one of the main targets for its action, especially hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) is associated with the metabolism and physiological functions of HSCs. We previously found that the mechanism of regulation of HIF-1α is involved in benzene-induced hematopoietic toxicity. In this study, chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing…

  • Benzene Exposure Alters Expression of Enzymes Involved in Fatty Acid β-Oxidation in Male C3H/He Mice

Open Access•Rongli Sun, Meng Cao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2016

Benzene is a well-known hematotoxic carcinogen that can cause leukemia and a variety of blood disorders. Our previous study indicated that benzene disturbs levels of metabolites in the fatty acid β-oxidation (FAO) pathway, which is crucial for the maintenance and function of hematopoietic and leukemic cells. The present research aims to investigate the effects of benzene on changes in the expression of key enzymes in the FAO pathway in male C3H/H…

  • Altered Expression of Genes in Signaling Pathways Regulating Proliferation of Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cells in Mice with Subchronic Benzene Exposure

Open Access•Rongli Sun, Juan Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2015

Leukemias and hematopoietic disorders induced by benzene may arise from the toxicity of benzene to hematopoietic stem or progenitor cells (HS/PCs). Since there is a latency period between initial benzene exposure and the development of leukemia, subsequent impact of benzene on HS/PCs are crucial for a deeper understanding of the carcinogenicity and hematotoxicity in post-exposure stage. This study aims to explore the effects of benzene on HS/PCs …

  • Overexpression of G6PD and HSP90 Beta in Mice with Benzene Exposure Revealed by Serum Peptidome Analysis

Open Access•Juan Zhang, Kehong Tan et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2015

The small peptides representation of the original proteins are a valuable source of information that can be used as biomarkers involved in toxicity mechanism for chemical exposure. The aim of this study is to investigate serum peptide biomarkers of benzene exposure. C57BL/6 mice were enrolled into control group and benzene groups of 150 and 300 mg/kg/d Serum peptides were identified by mass spectrometry using an assisted laser desorption ionizati…

  • Aberrant Production of Th1/Th2/Th17-Related Cytokines in Serum of C57BL/6 Mice after Short-Term Formaldehyde Exposure

Open Access•Haiyan Wei, Kehong Tan et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

Previous studies have shown that formaldehyde (FA) could cause immunotoxicity by changing the number of T lymphocytes and that cytokines play a pivotal role in the regulation of T lymphocytes. However, the previously used cytokine detection methods are difficult to use in the measurement of several cytokines in a small amount of sample for one test. Therefore, the cytometric bead array (CBA) technique was used. CBA showed better analytical effici…

  • Cyanobacterial Xenobiotics as Evaluated by a Caenorhabditis elegans Neurotoxicity Screening Test

Open Access•Jingjuan Ju, Nadine Saul et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

In fresh waters cyanobacterial blooms can produce a variety of toxins, such as microcystin variants (MCs) and anatoxin-a (ANA). ANA is a well-known neurotoxin, whereas MCs are hepatotoxic and, to a lesser degree, also neurotoxic. Neurotoxicity applies especially to invertebrates lacking livers. Current standardized neurotoxicity screening methods use rats or mice. However, in order to minimize vertebrate animal experiments as well as experimental…

  • Effects of Nano-MnO2 on Dopaminergic Neurons and the Spatial Learning Capability of Rats

Open Access•Tao Li, Tingting Shi et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

This study aimed to observe the effect of intracerebrally injected nano-MnO2 on neurobehavior and the functions of dopaminergic neurons and astrocytes. Nano-MnO2, 6-OHDA, and saline (control) were injected in the substantia nigra and the ventral tegmental area of Sprague-Dawley rat brains. The neurobehavior of rats was evaluated by Morris water maze test. Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and glial fibrillary acidi…
