  • Toxicological Assessment of Oral Co-Exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA) and Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (Dehp) in Juvenile Rats at Environmentally Relevant Dose Levels

Open Access•Roberta Tassinari, Sabrina Tait et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

The present approach allows to evaluate, for all the endpoints considered, the type of interaction between contaminants relevant for human health. Although the mode of action and biological activities of the mixtures are not completely addressed, it can be of paramount usefulness to support a more reliable risk assessment

  • Italian Children Exposure to Bisphenol A

Open Access•Sabrina Tait, Fabrizia Carli et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

A human biomonitoring (HBM) study on bisphenol A (BPA) in Italian children and adolescents was performed within the LIFE PERSUADED project, considering the residing areas, sex and age. The median urinary BPA level was 7.02 μg/L, with children living in the South of Italy or in urban areas having higher levels than those residing in the North or in rural areas. Children aged 4-6 years had higher BPA levels than those aged 7-10 and 11-14 years, but…

  • Exposure to Endocrine Disruptors and Nuclear Receptors Gene Expression in Infertile and Fertile Men from Italian Areas with Different Environmental Features

Open Access•Cinzia La Rocca, Sabrina Tait et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2015

Internal levels of selected endocrine disruptors (EDs) (i.e., perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), di-2-ethylhexyl-phthalate (DEHP), mono-(2-ethylhexyl)-phthalate (MEHP), and bisphenol A (BPA)) were analyzed in blood/serum of infertile and fertile men from metropolitan, urban and rural Italian areas. PFOS and PFOA levels were also evaluated in seminal plasma. In peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of same subjec…

  • Ecological Niche Modelling of Potential West Nile Virus Vector Mosquito Species and Their Geographical Association with Equine Epizootics in Italy

    Open Access•Lapo Mughini‐Gras, Lapo Mughini-Gras et al.•ARTICLE•EcoHealth•2014

  • The Incidence of West Nile Disease in Russia in Relation to Climatic and Environmental Factors

Open Access•Alexander Platonov, Alexander E Platonov et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

Since 1999, human cases of West Nile fever/neuroinvasive disease (WND) have been reported annually in Russia. The highest incidence has been recorded in three provinces of southern European Russia (Volgograd, Astrakhan and Rostov Provinces), yet in 2010-2012 the distribution of human cases expanded northwards considerably. From year to year, the number of WND cases varied widely, with major WND outbreaks in 1999, 2007, 2010, and 2012. The present…

  • Exposure to Endocrine Disrupters and Nuclear Receptor Gene Expression in Infertile and Fertile Women from Different Italian Areas

Open Access•Cinzia La Rocca, Sabrina Tait et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

Within the PREVIENI project, infertile and fertile women were enrolled from metropolitan, urban and rural Italian areas. Blood/serum levels of several endocrine disrupters (EDs) (perfluorooctane sulfonate, PFOS; perfluorooctanoic acid, PFOA; di-2-ethylhexyl-phthalate, DEHP; mono-(2-ethylhexyl)-phthalate, MEHP; bisphenol A, BPA) were evaluated concurrently with nuclear receptors (NRs) gene expression levels (ERa, ERb, AR, AhR, PPARg, PXR) in perip…

  • Environmental correlates of crimean-congo haemorrhagic fever incidence in Bulgaria

Open Access•Maria Fenicia Vescio, Fenicia M Vescio et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2012

We identified environmental correlates of CCHF incidence in Bulgaria that may support the prospective implementation of public health interventions
