  • Association of prenatal and postnatal exposure to air pollution with clinically diagnosed attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

Open Access•Jinzhu Zhao, Tianyi He et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder in children, originates from a multifaceted interplay of genetic, neurological, and environmental factors. Recent studies have increasingly concentrated on environmental determinants, notably air pollution, and their impact on the risk of developing ADHD. Additionally, previous research has often conflated clinically diagnosed ADHD cases with instances of mer…

  • Children neuropsychological and behavioral scale-revision 2016 in the early detection of autism spectrum disorder

Open Access•Shu‐Ling Chen, Jinzhu Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Background The Children Neuropsychological and Behavioral Scale-Revision 2016 (CNBS-R2016) is a widely used developmental assessment tool for children aged 0–6 years in China. The communication warning behavior subscale of CNBS-R2016 is used to assess the symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and its value of >30 points indicates ASD based on CNBS-R2016. However, we observed that children with relatively lower values were also diagnosed wit…

  • Maternal urinary manganese and risk of low birth weight

Open Access•Wei Xia, Yanqiu Rachel Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

Lower or higher levels of maternal urinary Mn are associated with LBW, though only the association of LBW risk and higher levels of Mn was statistically significant. The findings also show that the associations may vary by maternal age and infant sex, but require confirmation in other populations
