  • Recent Vaccination Against Sars-CoV-2 Is Associated with Less Severe Disease in Working-Age Adults

Open Access•Kailey Fischer, Joanne M Langley et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2024

Staying current with COVID-19 vaccinations should continue to be recommended since receiving a recent immunization lessened the severity of illness. Also, as symptoms of COVID-19 are now largely similar to other respiratory viruses, practitioners need to use this evidence to inform diagnostic testing and return-to-work policies

  • Prediction of Covid-19 Waves Using Social Media and Google Search: A Case Study of the US and Canada

Open Access•Samira Yousefinaghani, Rozita Dara et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has posed a severe threat to public health worldwide. In this study, we aimed to evaluate several digital data streams as early warning signals of COVID-19 outbreaks in Canada, the US and their provinces and states. Two types of terms including symptoms and preventive measures were used to filter Twitter and Google Trends data. We visualized and correlated the trends for each source of data against confirmed cases fo…

  • El Desarrollo Local. Teoría Y Práctica. Reintroducir Lo Humano en La Lógica Del Desarrollo

Open Access•Bernard Vachon, Derek R MacFadden et al.•ARTICLE•Dialnet (Universidad de la Rioja)•2018

Using this epidemiologic approach, which can be applied to current and future pandemics, we have identified a variety of target drugs and drug classes that could offer therapeutic benefit in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and may warrant further validation. Some of these agents (eg, fluoxetine) have already been identified for their therapeutic potential

  • Influenza Virus Transmission Is Dependent on Relative Humidity and Temperature

    Open Access•Anice C Lowen, Samira Mubareka et al.•ARTICLE•PLoS Pathogens•2007

Using the guinea pig as a model host, we show that aerosol spread of influenza virus is dependent upon both ambient relative humidity and temperature. Twenty experiments performed at relative humidities from 20% to 80% and 5 degrees C, 20 degrees C, or 30 degrees C indicated that both cold and dry conditions favor transmission. The relationship between transmission via aerosols and relative humidity at 20 degrees C is similar to that previously r…
