  • Factors associated with symptom severity in stress-induced exhaustion disorder

Open Access•Sean Cully, Sean Arthur Cully et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

These findings support previous research linking persistent stress conditions to a spectrum of demographic, occupational, psychiatric, psychological, and lifestyle measures. The results also add to the understanding of targetable ED symptoms and risk factors and set the direction for brain imaging analyses and longitudinal assessments in this cohort

  • Lateral prefrontal cortex thickness is associated with stress but not cognitive fatigue in exhaustion disorder

Open Access•Sean Cully, Sean Arthur Cully et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

These findings suggest that LPFC brain morphology is related to perceived stress levels but not cognitive fatigue, expanding previous research on the role of the LPFC in executive functioning. Moreover, the results support the notion that the LPFC may be mechanistically involved in stress-related executive function impairment but prompt further research into if and how this may be related to cognitive symptoms in ED

  • Trait Disinhibition and NoGo Event-Related Potentials in Violent Mentally Disordered Offenders and Healthy Controls

Open Access•Carl Delfin, Emily Ruzich et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2020

Trait disinhibition may function as a dispositional liability toward maladaptive behaviors relevant in the treatment of mentally disordered offenders (MDOs). Reduced amplitude and prolonged latency of the NoGo N2 and P3 event-related potentials have emerged as promising candidates for transdiagnostic, biobehavioral markers of trait disinhibition, yet no study has specifically investigated these two components in violent, inpatient MDOs. Here, we …
