  • Le semi-présidentialisme dans les régimes post-soviétiques

    Alexandra Iancu, Angela Tacea•ARTICLE•Pouvoirs•2023

  • Increasing women’s political representation in post-communism

    Alexandra Iancu•ARTICLE•East European Politics•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 21

The article investigates some of the potential factors leading to increased gender balance in post-communist societies. Focusing on Romania, the study shows that, at the party level, the centralisation of the candidate selection processes, the pre-existence of women as party leaders, or the articulation of women organisations within parties did not bring about a long-term change in the recruitment routines. Conversely, the article points to the f…

  • Party Membership in Romania

    Open Access•Alexandra Iancu, Sorina Soares et al.•ARTICLE•Czech Sociological Review•2020•Cited by: 1•References: 11

The article retraces the contradictions between the regulations and the practices shaping Romanian party membership in order to show why and how membership decline became an electoral-driven strategy. It contrasts high membership figures, the dynamics of legal definitions of party membership, and party routines. The results indicate that the Romanian example is an atypical case of incongruence between organisational configurations and party model…

  • Questioning Anticorruption in Postcommunist Contexts. Romanian MPs from Commitment to Contestation

    Open Access•Alexandra Iancu•ARTICLE•Comparative Southeast European…•2018

The outbreak of corruption scandals involving elected officials has raised criticism concerning the quality of parliamentary representation in Romania. The public image of the legislature rapidly became that of a 'reactionary gathering of criminals', persons who use public office in order to cover abuses of power and office. The core contestation of the legislature aimed above all at the usage by parliament of its constitutional privileges and im…

  • Démocratisation et Professionnalisation Politique en Roumanie. Règles Formelles et Pratiques Informelles de Sélection Gouvernementale

    Alexandra Iancu, Alexandra Alina Iancu•ARTICLE•Revue d’études comparatives…•2017
