  • Improving Graduate Medical Education by Aggregating Data Across the Medical Education Continuum

Open Access•Angela E Thelen, Barbara Crutchfield George et al.•ARTICLE•Academic Medicine•2024

Meaningful improvements to graduate medical education (GME) have been achieved in recent decades, yet many GME improvement pilots have been small trials without rigorous outcome measures and with limited generalizability. Thus, lack of access to large-scale data is a key barrier to generating empiric evidence to improve GME. In this article, the authors examine the potential of a national GME data infrastructure to improve GME, review the output …

    Mary R Haas, Jack B Martin et al.•BOOK•Creek (Muskogee) Texts•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 1

When Mary R. Haas died in 1996, she left behind several thousand pages of notes and texts in the Creek (Muskogee) language collected in Oklahoma from 1936 to 1940. The majority of the texts come from the unpublished writings of James H. Hill of Eufaula, an especially knowledgeable elder who composed texts for Dr. Haas using the standard Creek alphabet. Twelve other speakers served as sources for dictated texts

    Open Access•Mary R Haas•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the Annual Meeting…•1979

Natchez verbs are inflected for person (first, second, and third), for number (singular, dual, and plural), and for tense-mode (present, past, optative). There are two main kinds of verbs. There are, first, active verbs which are directly inflected only for the distinction between singular and plural. All the rest of the inflectional paraphernalia is carried by the auxiliary verb with which it obligatorily occurs. Secondly, there are inflected ve…

    Mary R Haas•ARTICLE•Southwestern Journal of…•1969•Cited by: 3

In several societies of Southeast Asia, consanguineal kinship terms are used as nouns, pronouns, and prename titles. As nouns they refer only to consanguineal kin but as pronouns they include affinal kin as well, and the choice of term is determined by the generational level. Since marriage partners are affinal kin of the same generation, their only possible choice among consanguineal terms for pronominal use is the sibling terms. Such use is nor…

  • Noun Incorporation in the Muskogean Languages

    Mary R Haas•ARTICLE•Language•1941•Cited by: 2

[Noun incorporation was formerly often thought to be characteristic of American Indian languages as a whole. While it is now definitely known that the process is not pan-American, its complete area of distribution (especially as a non-functional survival) cannot yet be plotted. For this reason it is of considerable interest that the process can be demonstrated to exist as a survival in the Muskogean languages, particularly since its occurrence in…
