  • Mythic narratives of video-game players in online forums

    Alexandra Samper-Martínez, Jan Gonzalo-Iglesia•ARTICLE•Catalan Journal of Communication…•2025•References: 2

Video games have demonstrated a profound connection with mythic structures. This study explores whether fans perceive and discuss, on Steam forums, the classical and contemporary mythic structures embedded in the video games they engage with and whether they are linked with their own day-to-day ex…

The conclusions reveal that, like other cultural products (novels,…

  • The mediatization of the food chain in networked times

Jordi Farré I Coma, Jordi Prades‐Tena et al.•ARTICLE•Catalan Journal of Communication…•2013

This is a theoretical approach about food conceived as a process of communication. Mediatization theory is used to explore long-term changes associated with the media environment. Before, outside, but also inside, the EU institutionalization of the food chain, sense-making regarding food is facing dilemmas of the self in the face of the pressures of late modernity. Additionally, as has occurred in the past, the new media environment is opening up…
