  • Transactional Analysis, the Judeo-Christian Tradition, and Religious Values

    Vann Joines, Vann S Joines•ARTICLE•Transactional Analysis Journal•2019

The author considers the decline of morality in the United States and elsewhere and the loss of a sense of the common good. He questions why this has happened and how transactional analysis (TA) can help in correcting it. His contention is that TA can help us better understand our psychological makeup and functioning and foster an accurate interpretation of the message of the Judeo-Christian tradition, which leads to moral behavior and a desire t…

  • Understanding Second-Order Structure and Functioning

    Vann Joines, Vann S Joines•ARTICLE•Transactional Analysis Journal•2016

Understanding second-order ego state structure and functioning in transactional analysis can be difficult. In this article, the author draws on his 40 years of clinical experience to help clarify these aspects of TA as well as to offer some new insights. • A Critique of Novellino's “Six Steps for the First Interview”

    Vann Joines, Vann S Joines•ARTICLE•Transactional Analysis Journal•2011

Furthermore, the author suggests that the dichotomy Novellino presents between cognitive-behavioral transactional analysis and psychody…

  • Combining One-to-One and Group-as-a-Whole Work in Redecision Group Therapy

    Vann Joines, Vann S Joines•ARTICLE•Transactional Analysis Journal•2010

One-to-one redecision therapy is a powerful, brief, in-depth approach to helping individuals resolve their core issue(s). Group-asa-whole work is an effective approach to understanding and working with groups. Combining the two approaches in redecision group therapy offers a more powerful approach than either one used alone

  • A Developmental Approach to Anger

    Vann Joines, Vann S Joines•ARTICLE•Transactional Analysis Journal•1995

This article describes five types of anger, each of which has its origin in a different developmental stage and thus requires a different treatment approach.
