Nuclear Annihilation and the Mechanisms of Defense
Aside from denial and “psychic numbing,” defense mechanisms consistent with the individual's personality emerge in response to the threat of nuclear annihilation. In the psychotherapeutic situation, therapist and client frequently collude in mutual defensiveness.
