  • Copper-Catalyzed Synthesis of N -Fused Quinolines via C(sp 3 )–H Activation-Radical Addition–Cyclization Cascade

Open Access•Bradford Keeney, Yangang Wu et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Organic Chemistry•2023

A novel copper-catalyzed cyclization reaction for the synthesis of pyrazolo[1,5- a ]quinoline, triazolo[1,5- a ]quinoline, and pyrrolo[1,2- a ]quinoline derivatives is described. The process is initiated by di- tert -butyl peroxide-mediated C(sp 3 )-H activation to generate the α-functionalized radical, which supervenes a cascade radical addition/cyclization sequence to access the N -fused quinolines in good yields with broad functional group tol…

  • Tuning your body instrument

    Open Access•Hillary Keeney, Bradford Keeney•ARTICLE•Dance Movement & Spiritualities•2020

In this article, we outline a movement practice we devised called ‘tonal alignment’. It invites you to regard your body as a musical instrument that produces both a mechanical vibration (movement) and an acoustic vibration (sound). The basic practice involves moving different parts of your body to various musical tones. These tones can be made with your own voice, an instrument, or you can play recorded music. Synchronizing body movement with aco…

  • Dancing in two worlds

    Open Access•Hillary Keeney, Bradford Keeney•ARTICLE•Dance Movement & Spiritualities•2020

The Ju/’hoan Bushmen or San of southern Africa host one of the oldest surviving dance forms. Openly conducted in public for the whole community, the dance serves as the primary locus for healing, conflict resolution, wellbeing, rejuvenation, social reunion, spiritual expression and performance art. Central to the dance is awakening n/om , what the Bushmen regard as a vibrational force that resides in the body of the strongest dancers. Often descr…

  • The Rhythm Detox

    Open Access•Hillary Keeney, Bradford Keeney•ARTICLE•Dance Movement & Spiritualities•2020

Rhythm not only connects the notes of a song into pleasing melody, it also organizes much of our everyday experience. Everything has an underlying rhythm including speech, thoughts and how bodies move through space. When people feel stuck, lifeless or in need of a creative inspirational reset, we propose paying more attention to the rhythms organizing their somatic expression rather than only attending to inner psychological states. This can be d…

  • Recursive Frame Analysis

    Open Access•Hillary Keeney, Bradford Keeney•ARTICLE•Qualitative Report•2016•Cited by: 1•References: 3

The origin of recursive frame analysis (RFA) is revisited and discussed as a postmodern alternative to modernist therapeutic models and research methods that foster hegemony of a preferred therapeutic metaphor, narrative, or strategy. It encourages improvisational performance while enabling a means of scoring the change and movement of the contextual organization of communication. Here we revisit the origin of RFA, its subsequent development, and…

  • N/om, Change, and Social Work

    Open Access•Hillary Keeny, Bradford Keeney•ARTICLE•Qualitative Report•2015•References: 8

The Ju/’hoan Bushman origin myth is depicted as a contextual frame for their healing and transformative ways. Using Recursive Frame Analysis, these performances are shown to be an enactment of the border crossing between First and Second Creation, that is, pre - linguistic and linguistic domains of experience. Here n/om, or the presumed creative life force, is infused into the community. As the Ju/’hoan Bushmen struggle to maintain their way of l…

  • Recursive Frame Analysis

    Open Access•Bradford Keeney•ARTICLE•Qualitative Report•2015•Cited by: 1

A practical method of organizing and understanding discourse in therapy is presented based on four catagories of distinctions: (1) orders of framing; (2) markers; (3) content to frame relations; and (4) frame to frame relations. Following a general discussion of recursive frame analysis, two case studies demonstrate its applicability to managing family therapy

  • Recursive Frame Analysis

    Open Access•Hillary Keeney, Bradford Keeney et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Report•2015•Cited by: 2•References: 1

Recursive frame analysis (RFA), both a practical therapeutic tool and an advanced qualitative research method that maps the structure of therapeutic conversation, is introduced with a clinical case vignette. We present and illustrate a means of mapping metaphorical themes that contextualize the performance taking place in the room, recursively enacted to produce a lineal progression from an opening act to a closing act. RFA is offered to therapis…

  • Reentry into First Creation

Bradford Keeney, Hillary Keeney•ARTICLE•Journal of Anthropological Research•2013•Cited by: 7•References: 8

The Ju/’hoan Bushman origin myth is depicted as providing a contextual frame that orchestrates and gives meaning to their puberty rites, storytelling, and healing dance. These performances are shown to be an enactment of a reentry from Second into First Creation, the latter an imagined time when the original people could change into animals, communicate with all living forms, and have eternal life without sickness. Here n/om, or the presumed vita…

  • Diagnosing Marital and Family Systems

Ronald E Cromwell, Bradford Keeney et al.•ARTICLE•The Family Coordinator•1979•Cited by: 2

A three part training model in diagnosing marital and family systems is described covered methodology, theory and clinical implementation. Initially, the training experience introduces an array of diagnostic tools and techniques. The second unit focuses on family systems theory and its relation to diagnosis. The third unit integrates the derived theory of diagnosing marital and family systems, termed systemic diagnosis, with clinical application …

  • Temporal Cycles and Sequences in Family Systems

Bradford Keeney, Bradford P Keeney et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Comparative Family…•1979•Cited by: 1

This paper explores ways in which temporal cycles and sequences organize events \Nithin family systems. The family is viewed as being in a network of systems which includes biological, behavioral and social interactional levels. Dimensions of temporal organization in the family system discussed are: (1) circadian cycles, particularly the relation between body temperature biorhythms and day-night periodicity; (2) the various forms of time frames w…
