A Cross-Cultural Comparison of Individual Differences in Musical Reward
Music is an important source of pleasure, yet sensitivity to the rewards of musical experiences varies greatly across individuals. The Barcelona Music Reward Questionnaire (BMRQ) is a frequently used scale to assess individuals’ sensitivity to musical reward. While the BMRQ has been translated into seven languages to date, its five-factor structure has not yet been compared across cultures. Here we compared musical reward sensitivity and its rela…
Reliability and validity of the Chinese version of subjective cognitive decline questionnaire in middle-aged and elderly people
Altered music emotion experiences of congenital amusia
These findings suggest individuals with amusia exhibit music-specific deficits in the pleasure derived from music, together with an alteration in emotion experience to minor-key music. Overall, the findings indicate an alteration in the use of pitch-derived cues when evaluating musical emotions and their relation to reward. From a reward perspective, these findings guide neuroimaging studies toward clarifying how pitch-based cues influence music-…
The Chinese version of the Barcelona Music Reward Questionnaire (BMRQ)
Sensitivity to music reward varies across individuals. The Barcelona Music Reward Questionnaire (BMRQ) is an effective tool in the assessment of sensitivity to music reward. The current study investigated the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the BMRQ, including its internal consistency, factor structure, criterion-related validity, and measurement invariance across gender. In addition, the relationship between personality traits …
The adaption of the Chinese version of the Covid Stress Scales as a screening instrument of stress
The COVID Stress Scales (CSS) was used to access related distress concerning Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Based on China's epidemic prevention and control policies during the COVID-19 pandemic, the adaption of the Chinese version of the CSS was developed. Our study evaluated the reliability and validity of the Chinese adapted version of the CSS during the COVID-19 pandemic. An online survey was employed to construct a national sample of …
Cortical Morphological Changes in Congenital Amusia
Background: Congenital amusia (CA) is a rare disorder characterized by deficits in pitch perception, and many structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging studies have been conducted to better understand its neural bases. However, a structural magnetic resonance imaging analysis using a surface-based morphology method to identify regions with cortical features abnormalities at the vertex-based level has not yet been performed. Methods: Fi…
Psychometric Properties and Measurement Invariance of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire in Chinese Adolescents With and Without Major Depressive Disorder
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties and posited nine-factor structure of the Chinese version of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ-C) in high school students and adolescents with major depressive disorder (MDD), including assessment of measurement invariance of CERQ-C and its subscales across gender, time, and presence of depression. Methods: Chinese high school students from Hunan Pro…
Consensus statement on the neurocognitive outcomes for early detection of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer dementia from the Chinese Neuropsychological Normative (CN-Norm) Project
Relation of perceptions of educational environment with mindfulness among Chinese medical students
Medical students had net-positive perceptions about their learning environment. Higher mindfulness scores were associated with greater satisfaction with the environment and this association showed persistence
Chinese version of the Optimism and Pessimism Scale
This study aimed to validate the Chinese version of the Optimism and Pessimism Scale in a sample of 730 adult Chinese individuals. Confirmatory factor analyses confirmed the bidimensionality of the scale with two factors, optimism and pessimism. The total scale and optimism and pessimism factors demonstrated satisfactory reliability and validity. Population-based normative data and mean values for gender, age, and education were determined. Furth…
Risk factors for posttraumatic stress reactions among chinese students following exposure to a snowstorm disaster
The risk factors that significantly impacted the onset of posttraumatic stress reactions in students living in Hunan, China following a snowstorm disaster were the school-to-home distance, negative coping, neuroticism, and teacher's emotional support
