Exhaustible resource use under endogenous time preference
This paper revisits a classical economic topic of exhaustible resource use on the basis of recent developments in time preference and discount factor models. An analysis of the effects of endogenous time preferences on the dynamic properties of resource use is conducted, contrasting the classical Hotelling results. More specifically, we develop an analytical model that incorporates endogenous time preference into the decision framework of resourc…

Optimal Lottery Design for Public Financing
This article develops a model of optimal lottery design for public financing, on the assumption that economic agents view buying lottery tickets as a form of entertainment. Given that lotteries are optimally designed, it offers two findings: (1) the fundraising potential of a lottery is independent of its type (specifically, of whether it is a fixed-prize type or a pari mutuel); and (2) the ratio of the optimal winning prize amount in each prize …
The Effect of a 12-week Combined Exercise Intervention Program on Physical Performance and Gait Kinematics in Community-dwelling Elderly Women
This study aimed to determine if combined exercise intervention improves physical performance and gait joint-kinematics including the joint angle and dynamic range of motion (ROM) related to the risk of falling in community-dwelling elderly women. A 12-week combined exercise intervention program with extra emphasis on balance, muscle strength, and walking ability was designed to improve physical performance and gait. Twenty participants attended …
