Facilitating Writing by Practitioners
The profession would benefit if practitioners viewed disseminating knowledge, including writing for publication, as part of professional practice. Gender differences in sharing injecting equipment by drug users in England
The study investigates whether the higher rates of sharing needles and syringes reported by female injecting drug users (IDUs) also occur in sharing other types of injecting equipment. Structured interviews were carried out with 181 IDUs in two cities (100 in Bournemouth, 81 in Bath), with almost equal numbers of males and females in each sample, recruited through needle exchanges and 'snowballing'. Financial abuse is widely recognised to be an important but under‐reported risk area for vulnerable adults, especially elderly people. This paper provides an introduction to relevant issues, indicators and remedies. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the phenomenon of creativity in a population of older adults. This study utilized a phenomenologic research design to explore the lived experience of creativity in four women ranging in age from 63 to 75 who were noted by their peers to be creative. This paper outlines an eight‐fold typology of coping actions based upon a qualitative analysis of the accounts provided by 50 close relatives of people with drug problems. In a number of different ways relatives draw attention to the contrasts between these distinguishable ways of coping.
