  • Network evolution in subnational epistemic learning during crises

Open Access•Cassie Zexin Yan, Todd Yuda Shi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Asian Public Policy•2026

In times of crisis, policy learning is crucial for updating related knowledge and solutions. Epistemic communities take a central lead in the learning process, creating epistemic learning within it. At the subnational level, crises draw both national and local experts into the process; their interactions with one another and with policymakers form policy networks. Rather than remaining static, subnational epistemic learning networks evolve across…

  • Narrative as Practical Pedagogy

Open Access•Lu Liu, Lu Liu Lu Liu et al.•ARTICLE•CENTRAL ASIA AND THE CAUCASUS•2026

Prevailing moral education theory, shaped by universalist and cognitive paradigms, often fails to connect abstract principles with lived experience, fragmenting the moral self. This paper argues that China’s Four Great Classic Novels form a rich repository of culturallygrounded phronesis (practical wisdom). We propose an analytical framework structured around the Chinese sequence of “lixin, lishen, liye, liming” and elaborated through four dimens…

  • Effects of Diaspore Traits and Vegetation Structures on Wind Dispersal of Solanum rostratum Using Wind Tunnel Simulations

Open Access•Yan Jiang, Quanlai Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2025

The effects of diaspore traits and vegetation structure (VS) on the wind‐dispersal processes of an invasive alien tumbleweed Solanum rostratum are not well understood. In this study, we used a wind tunnel to determine the wind velocity required for stem breakage of the plant. VSs of bare ground, desert steppe, typical steppe, and meadow steppe were simulated to determine the threshold wind velocity (TWV) of the plant (diaspore) and to measure dia…

  • Perception of confucianism, buddhism, taoism in chinese philosophy by heidegger’s triad existences, freud’s triple selves and euler’s identity

    Open Access•Zhimin Liu•ARTICLE•Journal of Infrastructure Policy…•2024

Based on the analysis of phenomenology and etymology, we argue that as three different components of Chinese philosophy, Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism focus on human beings’ transcendence of behavior, body, and mind, which is made concrete as Ming (name of reputation), Qi (physical body), and Dao(way)-De(virtue), respectively. Chinese philosophy has its own system, but it is still a philosophical component in ontology, and its constituent ele…

  • The conceptual blending of Laozi’s Dao and its companions with Heidegger’s triad existences

Open Access•Zhimin Liu, Lu Liu•ARTICLE•Journal of Infrastructure Policy…•2024

Laozi’s Ming (name), Qi (tangible part) and Dao (intangible part), coexisting in the same substance, can be compared with Heidegger’s triad existences: Seiende (being), Dasein (beings) and Sein (to be). In Laozi, Dao is the essential metonymy for the existence of things from Wu (void, nothing) to You (there is, reality). The effect of Dao is De (virtue) and the combined term of them is Dao-De (morality). By conceptual blend theory, we may draw th…

  • Temperature‐related factors are the better determinants of belowground bud density, while moisture‐related factors are the better determinants of belowground bud diversity at the regional scale

Open Access•Qun Ma, Jianqiang Qian et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2023

Belowground bud banks mediate several critical processes in grassland ecosystems under global climate change. However, the functions of belowground bud bank along large‐scale climatic gradients have rarely been reported. This study focused on the temperature and moisture transects at the regional scale to study the spatial pattern of belowground bud banks in grasslands of northern China, with purpose of examining: (1) whether the effects of tempe…
