This article relates the development of borderline disorders of the self to social/contextual factors, that is, factors in the social environment in which the individual is raised, usually the family. Of Multiple Personalities and Dissociated Selves
This article examines the mechanisms of dissociation of self that can result in multiple personality disorder (MPD). A review of the literature dealing with the etiology and mechanisms resulting in multiple dissociated selves is included, as well as a TA perspective on the subject. Two case examples are presented, and certain assumptions of TA theory are examined in light of these and other cases cited in the literature

This article examines Massey's response (January 1986 TAJ) offering criticism of and expanding on several points in my article (October 1985 TAJ) on combining paradoxical intervention and transactional analysis. Several problems with Massey's criticism of the article and his understanding of paradoxical psychotherapy are discussed
Hypnotic Age Regression and the Reparenting of Self
This article explores the efficacy of combining hypnotic age regression with a self-reparenting technique based on the work of Robert and Mary Goulding and Muriel James. It demonstrates that providing the adult client with a hypnotically-accessed experience of a childhood scene while supporting and nurturing the childhood self can be a powerful catalyst to change.
