Mind, Method, and Morality

Anthony Kenny's voluminous writings are rooted in, though not confined to, the history of philosophy. This volume celebrates his remarkable career with four essays on each of four predecessors to whom he devoted his exegetical and critical intelligence: Aristotle, Aquinas, Descartes and Wittgenstein. Since his first book, Action, Emotion and Will, Kenny has drawn nourishment from Aristotle. Sarah Broadie continues his exploration of Aristotle's Eudemian Ethics, arguing that according to EE VIII 3, people of complete virtue not only possess the virtues but reflectively value them above natural goods.
