The Effect of Fecundity of Pill Acceptance During Postpartum Amenorrhea

This article examines the results of a previous study conducted in Matlab Thana, Bangladesh. That study suggested that women who accepted the pill during postpartum amenorrhea experienced an actual decrease in the interval to the next pregnancy, while the group of nonacceptors experienced no such decrease in the birth interval. This article suggests that there might have been problems of bias in the selection of the groups as well as with the method of statistical analysis. Another possible failing in the initial study is the exclusion of those women using another form of birth control during amenorrhea. This article suggests that the design of the original study as well as the compilation and methodology used in analyzing the statistical results may have been at fault
