The illustration to the entry for Arena (sand) in the later fourteenth-century encyclopaedic compilation, Omne Bonum, is identified as representing a cruck truss with cusping, typical of the Welsh Marches, with examples tree-ring dated from 1402 to the early sixteenth century. The image also includes what is apparently the earliest representation of carpentry tools in an English context
