The article deals with the 50th anniversary of television in Brazil. It stresses the importance of this vehicle since TV emphasizes social facts, constituting itself as a privileged mediator of reality, including of the public space. The authors highlight the challenges TV presents us with permanently and how the field of communication/education can help us to confront them by giving us instruments to have a less fragmented view of the social facts. The authors list all of the bibliography on television during the six years of Comunicação & Educação's existence
