This thesis reflects on the music production practices for video games in Brazil.Based on literature about game audio, it is possible to verify that there are recurring aesthetic standards in game production that establish certain musical genres as more or less appropriate for certain game genres. In order to verify how these aesthetic standards are interpreted in Brazilian game production, interviews were conducted with individuals working in the field of game sound creation and 17 games produced in Brazil over the last 20 years were analyzed within a mainstream national scope. The interviews allowed us to observe that these aesthetic standards operate as a maintenance of expectations, primarily in the maintenance of game direction expectations. However, the interviewed individuals conveyed a movement of breaking away from the musical aesthetic standards through hybridization. The analyzed games allow us to perceive the ways in which this tension between maintenance and disruption presents itself in Brazilian game production. It is noticeable that the search for internationalization is one of the main factors in maintaining aesthetic standards. As a result, there is a strong tendency in game production to prioritize acceptance from an audience outside of Brazil
