An experiment was conducted to demonstrate inhibition/disinhibition (INH/DIS) on preschool children's use of an INH/DIS play area. Treatment strength (one vs two days) was varied. The results indicated that the Two-Day Treatment Group was significantly inhibited from playing and disinhibited to play in the INH/DIS area, while the One-Day Treatment Group exhibited a nonsignificant inhibition trend and no disinhibition. The results were discussed relative to social learning theory, and it was suggested that considerable caution is required in generalizing about preschool play groups due to their extremely variable composition.KEYWORDS: Inhibitiondisinhibitionpreschool playoverhead photographysocial learning
