This article reaches back to 1990, a time when women were still relatively new to policing and few were engaged in police work. Our goal is to assess the arguments of organizational demographers about the effects of work group gender composition on the performance of women police officers. The results indicate that organizational demographers got things right: Women in police blue are significantly more productive in gender-balanced work groups
