The consequence of labour-market marginalisation is that the participants in market competition withdraw from the market. The normative framework of social integration is then in danger. In this paper, specific forms of labour market marginalisation are distinguished and a complex of social and economic factors which influence labour market marginalisation in the Czech Republic is analysed. The analysis is based on qualitative investigations as well as on statistical data sets. The significance of interactions between labour demand and supply, human capital, economic incentives, discrimination, stigma, interactions with institutions and social networks form the focus of attention. The attempt to elaborate the typology of the strategies of the marginal labour force is presented
