The 1979 Ohio University Film Conference on Political Cinema held April 25-29 in Athens, Ohio, raised important theoretical and methodological issues for radical film theory. The following schematic summary of the conference sessions, while not exhausting the range and complexity of these issues, may serve to identify a number of current perspectives on political cinema. The opening panel on European Political Filmmaking examined politically significant films.
