Dans cet article, les AA. font part d'un exercice pedagogique lie a l'interpretation de donnees en gerontologie sociale. Les etudiants ont eu pour tâche d'expliquer et comparer des donnees brutes de recensement de la population âgee de deux etats americains. Les AA. soulignent ici l'importance de l'utilisation des outils quantitatifs, et le recul necessaire face a un afflux de donnees, dans la pratique interpretative inherente au cursus universitaire
