O ponto de partida deste artigo é o debate internacional sustentado por Sartori (2004), Laitin (2004), Colomer (2004), Rothstein (2015), Stoker, Peters e Pierre (2015), entre outros, sobre a relevância pública da Ciência Política. O argumento que orienta o trabalho é que a resposta encontra-se na articulação entre polity-politics-policies, entre regras, processos e resultados. Para avaliar o desenvolvimento da Ciência Política brasileira em relação a estas ideias, foram extraídos dados da Plataforma Sucupira, referentes a a) a produção científica de docentes e discentes; e b) o perfil e profissionalização dos titulados em Ciência Política da disciplina no Brasil. Os resultados mostraram concentração da agenda de pesquisa em torno da dimensão politics e um padrão endógeno de profissionalização dos egressos de instituições da área
