Burnout has been considered a result of stress and lack of interpersonal skills. Consequently, this study compared two interpersonal skills workshops with matched controls to determine the effect of training on burnout. The results support the hypothesis that skill development can impact upon social workers' experience of burnout for an affective-oriented training, but not for a cognitive-oriented training
