Tipologia e diffusione dei complessi votivi in Italia in epoca medio- e tardo-repubblicana

Annamaria Comella, Tipologia e diffusione dei complessi votivi in Italia in epoca medio- e tardo-repubblicana. Contrïbuto alla storia dell'artigianato antico, p. 717-803. In epoca medio- e tardo-repubblicana si possono individuare sostanzialmente tre tipi di complessi votivi che corrispondono, grosso modo, al altrettante aree della penisola. L'origine dei complessi votivi di tipo « etrusco-laziale-campano » va ricercata in area veiente e falisca dove, sin dal V sec, vi sono sicure attestazioni di teste votive. A partire dalla fine dei IV sec, Roma fa propria quella forma di religiosità popolare legata a questo tipo di complesso votivo ed assume il ruolo di centro di irradiazione di questo fenomeno, che dilaga in tutte le zone soggette al suo controllo. Relativamente alle attività artigianali connesse con la fabbricazione degli ex voto, si può riscontrare, nel corso di circa tre secoli, una trasformazione dei processi produttivi e delle condizioni sociali dei produttori, di rilievo non indifferente per la storia socio-economica di questo periodo
