Recent trends in migration into and within urban areas in United States are examined using Annual Housing Survey data on family characteristics of recent movers. The results suggest that the back-to-the-city movement (gentrification) can be supported nationally with present data. Although others have not been able to determine extensiveness of back-to-the-city movement data from Annual Housing Survey of Recent Movers seems to suggest that this is an increasingly significant metropolitan phenomenon.
