The article deals with the activities of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan from its clandestine \nactivities in the Soviet period up to 2015. The questions about its membership in Islamist religious \norganizations, its purely regional orientation and the reasons for stagnation at the beginning of the 21st \ncentury and the final defeat and a ban on legitimate political activities in 2015 are based on the data of \nthe Central state archive of the Republic of Tajikistan and materials in Russian and Tajik periodicals. \nRefs 32
