This article provides a systematic literature review of 40 international empirical studies on teacher communities (TCs) which supported early childhood educators, primary or secondary teachers in the delivery of arts education in the years 2010–2025. The systematic search draws on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA). Findings were thematically analyzed using a narrative method and revealed many types of TCs for educators of the arts. Contextual factors, arts TC practices and conditions for professional learning emerged. Findings show that the phenomenon of outcomes reported by educators as part of their participation in these TCs is neglected in the literature. Furthermore, gaps in the literature emerged on arts TCs in relation to drama, dance, arts integration, and integrated arts. A balance of top-down and bottom-up approaches in promoting agency is needed. Finally, recommendations for the future provision of TCs in arts education are put forward. • Arts educators need leadership support to meet their PL needs in collaborative bottom-up TCs. • Arts TC practices include reflective dialogue, art-making, and sharing ideas and resources. • Future empirical research should focus on outcomes reported by educators on their practice across many countries
