One of the ways to unravel the cultural practices is to look at and to listen to how patriarchal capitalist ideology has constructed the world view. I would especially note popular discourses in daily conversaations as well as in articles from magazines and newspapers. Similarly I will examine how feminism has been used and abused through what has been said and stated in the popular discourse especially among activists and intellectuals. In Indonesia April is womens month; meaning during that month particularly around the third week the womens issues feminism the womens movement gender in development and all notions related to women are heavily highlighted in the media: newspapers magazines TV programmes and also various cultural events to commemorate the birthday of Kartini. Kartini is considered one of Indonesias heroines as she is determined the most outstanding female historical-figure by the government. There will be another month of talking about womens issues sometime in December in line with what is signified as Haft Ibu (mothers day) December 22nd. (authors)
