This article describes the development and evaluation of integrated practice placements for social work students. The project was undertaken by the University of Wales Swansea Consortium, as a means of creating placements to fulfil the continued demand of meeting students' learning needs. Recognition is made of the changing roles of statutory and voiuntary agencies, and the current additional demands for assessment within social work agencies (e.g. NVQ, and PQ Awards). The project included placements in voluntary and statutory settings and within rural and urban areas
