Le premier contact de Baloji avec le diorama ne remonte pas à sa jeunesse congolaise mais à sa résidence au musée royal de l’Afrique centrale de Tervuren (Belgique), en 2008. Anciennement musée du Congo belge, l’institution, imprégnée par son histoire coloniale, ouvrait alors, pour la première fois, ses collections à des artistes. Interpellé par leur théâtralité et la volonté de mise en scène du diorama, Baloji créera huit années plus tard son installation Hunting and Collecting. Présentée en
