In this article, Porntip Israsena Twishime reflects upon the often-unspoken precarity of pursuing an academic career as a pregnant person of color the author disrupts a culture of silence around pregnant job candidates in academia by writing publicly about these experiences. The article advances the argument that stories about parenting in academia contribute knowledge about academic hiring and labor practices, the politics of gender, sexuality, and reproduction in academia, and the relationship between academia and home/making
