This research investigated the influence of interpersonal distance between a male experimenter and his subjects ( n = 120 undergraduates) on acquisition of a serial learning task. The possible interactions of interpersonal distance with difficulty of task and sex were also explored. Results suggest that reduction of experimenter-subject interpersonal distance does influence learning; however, no support was obtained for an interaction of interpersonal distance with difficulty of task or sex
