school in Missoula, Montana. They were tested with the QT during January and February of 1959. Students hzd been given the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (Lindquist g: Hieronymus, 1956) in the fall of 1958, and scores were available for 46 of the Ss. Final course grades for the school years 1957-58 and 1958-59 were obtained and converted to numbers (A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, and F = 0). To attain a reasonable degree of uniformity in presentation, the QT was administered to all Ss by a single examiner (E), an undergraduate major in elementary education who was given about ten hours of training and practice with the test prior to the beginning of this study. Testing was done in a small private room at the school. The order in which the three forms of the test were presented was rotated systematically in order to control for possible practice or warmup effects. Ss were assigned alphabetically to one of the six possible orders of presentation
