This essay discusses the connection between Wenceslao Fernández Flórez and Futurism in the early twentieth century. The first two sections include the state of arts in the context of Galicia, the first manifestations of Futurism in Galicia, and how the local writers responded to this Futurist movement. Sections three and four are focused on examining WFF’s early career and contacts with Galician Nationalism and avant-garde movements, and traces of Futurism in some of his novels: “La calma turbada” (1925); El malvado Carabel (1931), and El hombre que compró un automóvil (1939). Last section summarizes our hypothesis about the existence of some traces of Futurism in Wenceslao Fernández Flórez’s aesthetics and literary oevre
