The concept of international human rights protection was not really present on the global agenda until the aftermath of the tragic events of the Second World War. Beginning from the adoption of the ground-breaking UDHR48, through over 60 years, the field of international human rights protection saw significant developments as well as challenges in a rapidly changing world. Most recently, the catastrophic experiences of modern armed conflicts, such as the wars in the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, not only provoked international outcry, but also created a brand new perspective on the field of human rights.
