L’evolution du decor des vases de bronze des epoques Shang et Zhou a induit l’hypothese longtemps admise d’une evolution corolaire en trois etapes des techniques de fonte du bronze. Par une etude attentive des bronzes et de leur decor, qui n’est jamais parfaitement symetrique, et un reexamen des hypotheses concernant les techniques de fonte de la Chine antique, l’A. demontre, qu’en fait cette technique est restee la meme tout au long de cette periode
