Abstract The study addresses several issues related to public security idea in order to break with the idea that it is a subject that interests only to the state and thus try to show that it cares for an issue that concerns everyone. Because of this it is understood that the treatment to be given to safety must permeate not necessarily just by the apparatus and police management but rather by the public administration in attention to the formulation and implementation of specific public social policies. Keywords: criminology; criminal policy; public safety; civil Liberties; citizenship
