Since the initial impact of information technology on atomistic innovation, cooperative network innovation models have become the dominant paradigm, serving as a critical foundation for tourism scholars' innovation. This study employs the K‐means clustering algorithm to perform grouping of cooperative networks with similar topological structures to which tourism scholars belong, and further applies the classification and regression tree (CART) algorithm to explore the complex nonlinear relationships between network embeddedness characteristics and innovation performance. It was found that there are three types of tourism scholars' cooperative network topologies, that is, Chain‐type, Complete‐type and Mixed‐type. Additionally, the network embeddedness characteristics leading to the innovation performance of tourism scholars include four driving combinations and two inhibiting combinations. These conclusions provide a new reference basis for different types of tourism scholars on how to optimize the embedding mechanisms within cooperative networks to achieve high innovation performance
