This article presents an overview of the intellectual relationship between Susan Taubes, Susan Sontag and Jacob Taubes, exploring the erotic dimensions of their philosophical exchange. The article makes the case that their respective intellectual projects ultimately share the presupposition that thinking cannot be separated from friendship, affection, love, and sex. Their intellectual praxis in the early 1960s implies a deconstruction of this very distinction, as the intertwinement of eros and knowledge became a central philosophical concern in their writings and teaching. The first part of this article focuses on Susan Sontag and Jacob Taubes, analyzing a seminar they co-taught at Columbia University devoted to the topic of love. The second part presents Susan Taubes’s reflections on Eros and knowledge that she developed in the correspondence with her husband, Jacob Taubes
