This article examines the literary connections between Sydney Owenson (1781?–1859) and Frasquita Larrea (1775–1838), analysing shared conceptualizations of Romanticism, patriotism, and feminine agency. Influenced by Madame de Staël, both authors constructed a national imaginary from a feminine perspective. The article demonstrates how landscape description, diary and travel writing, sketches, panoramas and observations of national customs were pivotal in shaping the national tale and their political discourse. Ultimately, it illustrates how early nineteenth-century women writers strategically utilised specific literary forms to define national identity and navigate the intellectual spheres of their era
