In a world marked by the polycrisis triggered by the failing social system, the importance of learning to deal with complexity cannot be overstated. Art has the capacity to invite non-linear ways of seeing and understanding. Based on an ethnography of the work of artists, the paper addressed the ways in which active experience operates in the creative process. The results may inform the work of non-artists who are able to organize their own work, but also reveal how we all can benefit from contact with art
